Hidden gem.

One evening I had this dry lips feeling and I was looking through my glosses to see if I could find something nice to sooth this problem. I found a little forgotten gem in my drawer!
It's Bare Escentuals Natural Lip Gloss in colour Chiffon. I purchased it a while ago and intended to use it in my kit but I totally forgot about it. What came to mind is that this company only uses natural products and so I though it would be a great idea to put it on dry lips. It has sesame and sunflower oil, also cupuacu butter. Pomegranate oil and natural vanilla to sooth. All ingredients are 100% natural, minerals that are pure and from the Earth. Now it aslo claims to be non-stick and non-tacky witch I don't agree with. The gloss has a sticky texture but it's not bad, although I do prefer wearing my hair up wile having this gloss smothered on my lips. I do love the smell. So gentle and soothing vanilla breeze, reminds me of home baked cookies.
I am loving the fact that it has a brush instead of a sponge applicator. As I've been putting it on with my finger it's so much easier to get the product out. For some reason I always found the brushes being more hygienic, even if it's inside the tube theres no harm in cleaning them sometimes.
This colour is rather nude with a golden undertone and has shimmers. Lips look shiny, not shimmery, and full! The effect wears off after a while but with a scent like this I love to reapply.

I am planning to get some more actually, at least one, as this one was ment for my kit I might get one in a more everyday kind of colour and see if I like it as a part of my make-up for the day. It's a nice and tasty gloss!

I'm having a bumpy problem.

For about 10 days now I have been battling some sort of strange acne explosion on my face. I seriously don't know if it's the new moisturiser I'm wearing, the weather making it worse, hormones, the fact that I left a stressful job or all of these together.

I seriously have been trying to stay away from make-up and only keeping myself to good skincare routine. Exfoliating without scrubbing and I even got a cream against spots with salicylic acid. It works well, I must say, but it takes time and I really don't like to show my red, bumpy face in public.

To the rescue I had 3 trusty products that I've been using for my days when I had to go outside. I really wanted to use as few products as possible and I'm very pleased.

This is what's been in my cosmetic bag for the passed week:

1. Face. Thank goodness for BB creams! These are so amazing, not only will it cover the blemishes and even out your skin tone like a foundation but also calm any blemishes, moisturise, keep sebum at bay and not clog your pores. I have been using the Dr Jart Black Label Blemish Base Detox Healing with SPF25, whitening properties to brighten old scars and with an anti ageing formula. I opted out from the Silver  Label for oily skin because it's winter, I need the moisture.

2. Eyes. With no eyeshadow I want to feel natural but still have the blackness and fullness of a fluttery lash. I have been using my trusty Ellis Faas mascara as it feels so soft on the lashes, even when you put many coats. I find mascara important when wearing nothing on the eye. It makes any eyes look more rested and awake!

3. Lips. Now I don't want to look bland and boring even with almost no make-up on. In this case I rather pull the attention to the lips as it distracts from any bumps that might show from underneath the BB cream or foundation. My choice is Eyeko's Liptastik lip gloss pen in Loud Mouth. This colour is pink and bold but not bright and over powering at all. It's rather long lasting, moisturising, fun and easy to apply. It's also cute and something I like to take out to reapply when I'm on the go.

It looks like I'll be stuck with this routine for a while, thank goodness I have all 3 colours of the Liptastik pens so I can change from day to day. I actually like the simplicity of the routine and I'm now scared to be lazy of going back to many more product a day. Hahaha!

Do you know Vaseline?

How many of you put Vaseline on your lips, put your hands up?

I'm sure there's many of you, and many people actually, that don't know what it is or where it comes from.

Vaseline is made with petroleum jelly, an oil that is taken from the thick, white layer that coats oil rigs. Yes, that's what it is, ruffly.

Discovery of it's use was made by a worker who was working on an oil rig 1859. This paraffin like substance was causing the rigs to malfunction but the workers put it on cuts and burns because they though it was helping them to heal.

What petroleum jelly does is coats the area with a water repellent layer. Nothing get's in, nothing get's out. The problem with this is that it won't moisturise your skin or lips, it just makes sure nothing comes in and while you're wearing it it feels like your lips have moisture, the product keeps the moisture in. When it get's rubbed off or you take it off lips feel dry again. So due to this you keep on putting it on and on and on and on. Familiar?

If you compare this to natures own oils and waxes they do a different job. If you for example have a lip product made with beeswax, shea butter and/or coca butter the layer will draw the moisture from the surrounding air and put it into your skin or lips. When it gets rubbed off or taken off the lips will still feel moisturised and soft as these oils actually helped to moisturise.

Now there are a lot of rumors going around saying that petroleum jelly might cause cancer but the jelly used in cosmetics is not harmful. It's only the properties and what you looking for. Still, it is a mineral oil and it has a way of clogging pores. It's an extremely cheap ingredient to include therefore it's seen in so many high street and drugstore products.

I personally prefer using natural, organic oils and waxes. They benefit you in so many ways, giving your moisture, vitamines and so many other amazing properties, not to mention they are all kind to the nature.

What’s the difference?

We all know by now about the classic Eyeko 3in1 cream that made the brand so famous. The tinted moisturiser and the original highlighter… but now we also have a new addition of the glow cream. Now many of us wonder, what’s really the difference between the original highlighter and the new glow cream?
To make it easier to understand, and shop, I will show you the difference right now!

The jars are both pink, the top one is the original cream, it’s slightly darker in the colour and the bottom one, the glow cream, is tiny cooler in the shade.

It’s hard to tell the difference with a picture directly from the jar. I find the glow cream to be softer in the consistency, but I don’t know if that might be because I had the original cream for a much longer time then the glow cream. Also note, the original pot contains 38ml of product and the glow pot only has 28ml! They are both £8 each.

Here is a swatch of both creams next to each other. Left is the original and right is the glow cream. I have layered it quite thick so you really can see the difference in the shade. The original has a golden shimmer in a pinky, creamy texture. The glow cream has a slight silver shimmer blended into a soft baby pink texture.

Here is a swatch of the creams blended into the skin. Original to the left and glow to the right. They are both very pretty and perfect highlighters with moisturising properties and vitamin A!
FOR ME, THE WINNER AND CREAM OF MY CHOICE?

I love to use the limited edition Eyeko cream Extra glow! Why? Is not only because of the über cute box but I do have pale skin and this is the most perfect highlighter for my tone! It’s moisturising and I love the fact that it doesn’t contain big sparkles, but it gives shine and glow to your skin. I use it on my brow bone in a C leading to the cheekbones. I take a small amount on my finger and gently put it along the bridge of my nose and what ever is left I put on my cupids bow. I got so many flattering compliments wearing this cream so from now on it’s a must have in my daily beauty routine!
Get this miracle at www.eyeko.com and don’t be shy to put E3543 in the ambassador box to get you special free gift!
